Mission

The mission of Elgin Junior Service Board is to enhance and support health, education, and well being of women and children in Elgin and the surrounding communities.

A Note from our President

I remain in constant awe of the goals that the ladies of JSB have achieved this year!  Last Fall we successfully restructured and implemented our new requirements for provisionals and active members. We were 16 members strong in September and added an additional 12 provisionals in December.  We have given over 1800 hours to our community this year! That's 195 hours per month.  Here’s a recap of what we did!

  • Our Clothing Distribution Center Chair, Marlo Ibarra, and her dedicated team finalized the new business plan for the future of the Clothing Center.
  • HealthWise is reaching new dental, preventative achievements under the driven leadership of Shelley Gilroy.  This committee has designed a program where a dentist accompanies JSB to various school classrooms to educate proper dental care through interactive teachings.
  • Cinderella's Closet granted over 280 wishes of some very delighted teenage girls attending last year's Prom, thanks to Charlotte Canning and her talented team, the YWCA, Deirdre White and the Junior League of Kane and Dupage County!
  • JSB gave over $9,000 to 9 deserving local organizations who share similar missions of JSB!
  • Our "Community Crossover" and "Quick to Complete" service projects have provided organized opportunities for our members and associates to stay connected and involved in the community.
  • Nikki Hutcherson creatively announced our 2012 FOLLIES CHAIRS with enough enthusiasm to fill Hemmens Auditorium!
  • Debbie Hresil Beaudin was JSB's woman of the year.
  • Siobahn Cottone was our nomination for this year's YWCA Leader Luncheon nominee and won!
  • Congratulations to our associate, Deirdre White who was Altrusa's Woman of the Year!

Thank you always for your support, your encouragement, your wisdom and your previous efforts that make JSB what it is today!  We are growing, changing and remaining steadfast in our mission as we continue to create and attain new achievements in the upcoming year!
